Rachel Weeping for Her Children – Study Model

Before a sculptor creates a monumental piece, she often makes a  model to ascertain what the finished piece will be, and to resolve any problems. This sculpture is the model for the 11 foot tall sculpture memorial at the Cathedral of The Sacred Heart in Richmond.

Worked with oxyacetylene torches, traditional metal smithing, etc., sculpture is 11′ tall.
Study model is  36″ x 11 1/2″ x 13 1/2″

In 1986 Bishop Walter Sullivan commissioned me to create a major Holocaust sculpture for the grounds of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, Virginia.
