As we are linked with those who came before us and linked to those whose lives touch ours, the human journey through time is a dance spiraling the ages. Here hand sculpted in lustrous bronze, a figure of Miriam embraces a bouquet of her daughters and descendants in all their colorful variety. As their dance garlands the clear goblet, she and they offer us refreshment and joy. Through bronze, glass and enamels, this Miriam’s cup links the vision of Miriam leading the Israelites in exultation on the safe shore of freedom’s sea. It also depicts the legend of the movable well, with which Miriam greeted the Israelites every evening, when dust weary, they paused to rest. $500.TOP |

L Dor Va 'Dor - or From Generation to Generation - This bronze menorah contains a two-thousand old antique oil lamp from the time of the original Hanukkah story - the time of the Maccabees. This piece won best in show at Norfolk's Stockley Gardens art show and was featured in House Beautiful magazine. The idea of the piece is that the past, represented by the old oil lamp, symbolically lights the present, and those lighting the menorah today will light the future.

Founder’s Wall - Temple Beth El, Williamsburg, VA The design for this wall sculpture is a garden of flowers mentioned in the Torah. Each hand sculpted copper and bronze flower was enameled and then inscribed in calligraphy with the donor’s name. Linda Gissen designed and created the sculpture wall and Betsy Rivers executed the calligraphic inscriptions. Both have studios at the d’ART Center. | |
